Stage 20: TRIACASTELA to SARRIA (13.38 miles)

Bringing you up to speed: Where we did not have a ward or branch to attend in Triacastela, we had a wonderful discussion from "Come, Follow Me" and some sharing of testimonies. It goes without saying that we rested (a lot). In the evening we sat down with Art Lowe, a local artist and one of John Rosenberg's friends from previous hikes along the Camino. Art is a wonderful, Christian man who loves the Lord. He shared with us his journey from his youth to adulthood to where he is now in his life.

He is a retired policeman from England who spends three months out of the year in Spain at a beautiful house/studio that he has refurbished about a kilometer and a half outside Triacastela.

In his studio he keeps the Bible open to John 14:6 where Jesus declares, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." We loved our visit with Art. We had the opportunity to share our love for the Savior in song. We sang two hymns for him (that he recorded). We were all blessed by this encounter.

After visiting with Art again this morning at this gallery, we were off to Sarria. Sarria is where a lot of pilgrims begin their journey to Santiago de Compostela on a shorter trajectory. Here are some pictures from along the way.

There are springs and streams everywhere in Galicia making for lush greenery.

These stone slab fences surround nearly all of the farms and dairies in the area (and I might add that we had to walk through some pretty stincky farm areas, dodging cow dung along the way!)

Foxglove grows wild around here.

As we were entering Sarria we noticed these doors and low-and-behold they were decorated with art by our friend Art Lowe!!!

We are in Sarria!
